As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr.James Gilman,the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England.In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’stooth.This is a true story.

65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao.Then he was only 5 years old.Heoften visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there,which he thought was a dragon.He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted oneto keep as a treasure.

In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had toleave.On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one ofthe teeth from the dragon’s mouth.

He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at havingstolen it was there in the background all through his life.It was always on hisconscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older.Finally he decidedto put right his childish error.In 2002, he visited Qingdao and returned it tothe Aquarium with his sincere apologies.He received a warm welcome.

When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported onhis visit.I was deeply touched by his honesty.It has taught me a lot.I thinkto err is human.The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correctone’s error.

Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour.So we should try to keep anhonest mind in everything we say and do.I would like to say to all of myfriends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.

我们家在农村，抚养我和哥哥很不容易，更何况要送我们都读书。面对巨额的学费，父母咬牙坚持着，任生活的重担把他们的肩膀压弯，毫无怨言。

现在，我们都在外面学习或是工作，守着空空的房子，接电话就成了父母最快乐的事了。我们一个个打电话回去，父母乐滋滋地告诉其他几个的情况。我想，那也许是他们最幸福的时刻。

虽然远在他乡，离父母何止十万八千里，但是父母给的关爱还无时无刻的在我的身边围绕着，父母给我的无穷力量鼓励着我度过一个又一个寂寞时刻，他们始终是我精神的支柱。

为了丰富广大同学的课余生活，加强英语的学习与交流，提高同学们学习英语的积极性;给广大同学提供一个自我锻炼、展示自我的舞台，我院社团联合会英语协会决定举办:“水院之星”英语演讲比赛，我们协会在得到老师和同学的支持下，于本月举行了英语演讲比赛，此次比赛主要针对全院的大一的学生。大一学生参加的积极性很高，报名人数也很多，在我院大一学生新生中有一定的影响力，比赛设有预赛和决赛，本次比赛采取“公平，公正，公开”的比赛原则，此次活动是南湖校区与汤逊湖校区首次联谊比赛。

在比赛的前期，两个校区都在各自在本校做了许多关于对本次活动的宣传活动，鼓励各系各班的同学积极参加，预赛是两校区在各自的本部举办，南湖校区报名参赛40名。汤逊湖校区报名参赛60几名，预赛于10月31号举行，，经过一轮又一轮的角逐，在评委的公正评判下，南湖校区总共有11名参赛选手进入决赛，汤逊湖校区有19名进入决赛。决赛于11月8号下午2：00在南湖校区二楼报告厅拉开的帷幕，

虽然取得了一定的成绩，但我们更多的，是要关注在活动中所出现的不足之处，以便于吸取教训，为以后活动的更好开展奠定基础。

第一、活动前期的准备工作略显仓促，赛前的赛制商量不明确，直至比赛开始之前的前几小时才通知到选手以相关的赛制改变事宜。部分选手上台之后因紧张而说不出话的原因与此有一定的联系;

第二、活动形式上还需进一步创新。此次的比赛我们仍采用了以往的普通赛制，部分观众因对演讲比赛的环节失去了兴趣，中场离开，导致了现场其他观众的躁动和离场，影响了整个活动的质量;

第三、活动现场的秩序较为混乱。现场的少部分观众未能很好地控制自己的情绪和行为，在比赛现场大声喧闹，不仅影响了选手的发挥，也影响了主持人的发挥，造成了现场的很多尴尬局面。在以后的活动中，一定要记得安排好秩序维护员是一项很重要的工作。

如果承蒙领导厚爱，让我走上办公室副主任的工作岗位，我将牢记使命、不负重托，更好地肩负起公司领导和主任对我的嘱托，勤奋工作，扎实苦干，积极协助主任做好办公室的管理工作;我将把新的岗位当成干事创业的大舞台，竭尽个人的能力和水平，不遗余力地去追求事业成功与人生价值的最佳结合点。积极协助主任把办公室建设成为精干、高效、协调有序、团结奋进的办事机构，充分发挥办公室的参谋作用，助手作用，协调作用，副职竞聘报告，枢纽作用和保障作用。具体来说，我将做到以下几点：

“三种角色”即“助手、领导和朋友”。一是当好主任导的助手。做到组织上服从而不盲从，奉命而不唯命，善上而不唯上;工作上主动而不盲动，当助手而不甩手，融合而不迎合;思想上尊重领导，帮助领导排忧解难。二是分管部门的领导。要与所属部门职工多沟通，熟悉分管部门的工作情况，找准工作重点和难点，制定出有效的工作计划和目标，有的放矢地开展好工作。三是当好职工的朋友。在工作中和生活上多关心职工，急职工之所急，想职工之所想。

第二，真诚团结同志，共同协作发展。

天时不如地利，地利不如人和。只有团结，工作才能形成合力。遇事和大家商量，虚心真诚地听取大家意见，严于律己，诚恳待人，尊重大家，关心大家，努力创造宽松、和谐、愉快的工作环境。兼听则明，偏信则暗，做好协调工作，多和大家交流，做大家的知心朋友，努力营造一个相互信任、相互帮助、心情舒畅的工作氛围。

第三，强化新闻工作，加大宣传力度。

工作中，我将做好XX的编写工作，注重信息的准确性与时效性。争取在本行业和相关行业报纸杂志上发表一定数量的稿件。同时，密切与新闻单位的联系，做到沟通及时。同时，在办公室日常管理中，积极协助部门副职做好办公室分管的事务，做好文秘、档案、接待等一系列本职工作，力争使办公室办成“小科室,大服务”的科室管理模式。

第四，实践检验磨练，不断总结经验。我进一步提高综合协调，问题处理在内的各个方面的工作能力，弥补自己由于工作局限所带来的不足。不断增长才干，提高工作水平和工作质量，更好的服务公司领导与职工，服务全公司。
